he's eating horribly to begin with. if ya don't want f'n heartburn then don't eat greasy foods!!!! i believe the surgery actually allows air to excape and not become trapped. which causes the discomfort.

If it's really because of acid reflux, antacid therapy would be inadequate. He might need a H2 receptor antagonist (Ranitidine) or proton pump inhibitor (Omeprazole). I don't know whether these drugs are available in your country without prescription. The names I give above are generic names.

One symptom that seems to be absent is; shortness of breath.. All of those mentioned are also evident with "diaphramatic hernia."
He really needs to change his diet. He should also be screened for esophageal cancer because reflux can be a cause of it. He seems to be getting alot of exercise, so that is in his favor. His major problem is his diet, which is irritated by the physical activity.
