Can lactose Intolerance increase or become more severe over time?

My mom always told me that she thought I was lactose intolerant. She said as a baby, I always reacted funny with milk and such. Well, anyway, I know that if I drink a full glass of milk I feel a little bad afterwards - I always have, but it's usually nothing particularly extreme (I don't like the taste of plain milk much anyways). And I've always been able to eat my way through a couple of slices of pizza or a bowl of icecream with very little or no side effects.

Anyways, its been getting worse. I had a slice of four cheese pizza the other night and felt extremely sick about half an hour later. Last night I was celebrating and had a slice of chocolate cheesecake and a mocha thing from starbucks and was feeling a little bad in only 10 minutes - miserable not long afterwards.

I've been starting to request my drinks made with soi milk instead of whole, and that seems to help a little bit. And I'm a little frightened because I know thanksgiving is on the way, and who knows what has milk in it!

I'm not sure if it's lactose or maybe another sugar? It seems I'm allergic to almost everything lol. I still eat a slice of cheddar on my sandwiches or sour cream on my potatoes and that doesn't seem to bother me any (... yet, anyway...)

Thank you all in advance! Can lactose Intolerance increase or become more severe over time?
Lactose intolerance is a funny thing. It can seem to get worse or better. I know a piece of four cheese pizza would be a good test. That should cause major symptoms, while one slice of cheese might not.

You don't, however, have to give up your favorite foods.

Drink milk with lactobacillus acidophilus added to it (Nutrish is one brand). It tastes just like regular 1 % milk.

For meals with other milk products, carry acidophilus tablets with you.You can buy them at drug stores. When you feel a little discomfort from eating something, take one or two. They work quickly to digest the milk sugar and stop the symptoms.
