How do I get over my shyness?

I am severely shy, and it makes me miserable. I cannot talk to anyone new, and I can barely talk to "close" friends. I have a boyfriend, whom I love very much. And he's pretty much the only person I'm 100% fine with.

Some of the extreme:

I will not use the vending machines at college, because they make loud noise and I don't want to draw attention to myself.

I've been in college for a few weeks now and still do not talk to anyone.

I can't order pizza.

I hate going into stores to buy anything, or going into the bank to deposit money. It makes me very nervous.

When anyone new tries talking to me, I find it extremely difficult to keep the conversation going. My face turns red, and I start shaking and sweating.



I don't know what's wrong with me. I've been through a lot in my life, but I shouldn't be this way. I'm smart, I'm really nice; to everyone, really. I just am scared to death of everyone and I don't know what I can do to fix it. How do I break out of my shell?



Please help. I'm so lonely and depressed all the time and I hate it. I just need to know how to talk to people..How do I get over my shyness?

I have read your question and I think I understand your situation, Alex Mear. I am writing this response to you and to others who have similar problems.



I was very shy man in my past. It was connected with social phobia, anxiety and deep depression; so I did not have easy life. I got to know most of possible self-help systems and finally I managed get out of that hell. I developed a method, step by step, makes use of many existing techniques, which effectively helps to get rid of this suffering.
