I know that obesity is a huge problem and doctors always say that most people are actually overweight in America, not underweight. All of my friends don't really play any sports, eat a lot of McDonald's, fried chicken, pan pizza, burgers and so on. Have one friend she's 160lbs and 5'6". Another is 240lbs and 5'9". Even my friends that are not that extreme are kind of fat and have their belly hanging out. They weigh like 140lbs or so and are around my height. But they all always say that they are real happy with their weight and are not overweight.
I'm 5'4" and weigh about 106lbs. I swim a lot and eat right. But my friends always tell me that I'm too skinny. I don't think so at all. I'm Asian also, which plays a part in it.How do you know if you are overweight or underweight?
Overweight and underweight are actually inaccurate terms now. The best way to know, however, is through body fat percentage. High percentage, high fat or in common terms, overweight. Unfortunately, it would take a doctor's visit to get a precise percentage so the cheapest two ways i'd go for, understanding that they'll be inaccurate to some degree would be using a BMI chart that you could simply google. That uses height and weight recommendations. The other method would be doing skin folds of adipose (fat) tissue at certain sites on the body. You'd have to buy the instrument to do the skin folds, however. Just to know for your own knowledge, the BMI charts will do fine enough. How do you know if you are overweight or underweight?
