Is eating only a few bland foods an eating disorder?

My niece's mother is an exceptional cook who makes a wide variety of excellent restarurant quality meals. But her 12-year old daughter refuses to eat ANY of her meals. Instead she has plain cereal (cheerios mostly) for dinner almost every night. Her other meals consist of things like bagels--the only thing she seems to tolerate is an occasional pizza or something with bacon in it. Her snacks tend to be things like popcorn. When allowed, she indulges in candy and ice cream. She seems healthy, for now. Aside form the fact that this is a very unhealthy diet, does the extreme blandness and lack of variety of her diet constitute an eating disorder of some kind? Thx.Is eating only a few bland foods an eating disorder?
I don't remember having a choice about dinner when I was 12 years old. Actually, I had no say over dinner until I was on my own and cooking. Is her lunch at school a hot meal? If so, she might not be hungry for anything more than a light supper. While I don't believe she should be forced to eat something that truly goes against her, like broccolli or fish, I do feel your sister should insist her daughter eat what she's prepared for dinner. What does your sister think of this situation?

I don't think the girl has an eating disorder, but she certainly has a rather restricted diet that is needlessly robbing her of necessary nutrition during her growing years. Good luck!Is eating only a few bland foods an eating disorder?
If she "indulges" on candy and icecream when allowed, it seems like she's just simply been spoiled and allowed to narrow down her range of food down to only things she likes. Just have her mother take out everything she "likes" (especially any and all sugary junk food) and stock up on healthy fruit and vegetables. The girl won't like it and she'll put up a fuss, but she will have to start eating something. Is eating only a few bland foods an eating disorder?
You should control your life! Make her eat healthy and not eat some of that fatty crap. Come on take control! (Try to rate best answer) Hope this helped!
She might be just bored of certain foods. It doesn't look as an eating disorder.
