exactly 12 days ago i weighed 140 1/4 lbs. today the nurse took my weight again, It's down to 124 lbs.
It is theorized i have ADHD, but I've taken several tests for it and for ADHD, it proved inconclusive. They did conclude that i suffer from extreme anxiety and depression.
i live under large amounts of stress from the things that have happened in my life, such as father committing suicide, my sister putting charges against my mom for abuse and my sister getting taken into DHS custody, among others.
heres the situation--a month and 1 week ago, i went to the doctor for a med. check. ( at that time i was taking Prozac, Adderall, tetracycline (acne), and seraquil) He took me off the seriquil, gradually. At first i was kind of nauseous, but nothing unmanageable. i got over it. he told me to come back in one month, so i did.
about 10-12 days ago, i noticed i wasn't eating, but it wasn't as bad as now. i ate a large breakfast and a little school lunch and a snack every day. I went to the school nurse to see what i weighed, and it was 140 lbs. i went to the doctor for the one month checkup Monday. My mom told him that I was arguing sustancially (i admit it--i pick on my mom (just pushing her buttons-trying to be playful) all the time--im a teen) but in all actuality, no one else in my family had noticed it.
The doctor said i was on an extremely low dosage of Adderall - which was 30 mg of adderall XR once daily, so he decided to double the prescription and make me take 2 - 30mg adderall XR once daily. i said it was okay, because if i didn't my mom would go crazy. the first 2 days and nights i was feeling pretty nauseous, noticed a slightly higher heart rate, and other semi minor stuff. After the first 2 days, I noticed that the max i could eat a day would be probably one piece of bread (if that) which is very unusual because i normally eat as much as a full large pizza, or 3 hungryman dinners, and other large portions of food(i have a fast metabolism) that night, i also noticed that i kept waking up in the middle of the night, with the room freezing cold and my skin cold, but sweating like a dog. the next morning i noticed i was having extreme bursts of pain in my chest, spreading down to my arms, and then numbing my chest and arms. i have been having very irregular heart rates, going extremely fast to extremely slow and back in a couple of seconds. i keep getting random muscle spasms throughout my body. ALL of my muscles are extremely tense and sore. it feels as if my anxiety is at a peak that it's never been before, and has been that way for the last... ughh... 31 hours approx. i feel like im becoming extremely paranoid, mostly about death (which i normally dont ever do that...).. i am currently down to 124 lbs as of this morning.. still haven't ate anything because i can't.i would throw up the instant it touched my mouth.. I now am extremely shaky, with very jumbled thoughts.i can't go see the doctor untill next monday. i have not even partially dozed off in the last 36 hours, although i have been laying in my bed every night. I keep feeling as if i am going to pass out, even getting extremely blurry during those times. I will start sweating randomly when its verry cold. i have been looking on line on many different diagnoses, but i'm not sure..
Any help would be greatly appreciated. i really don't want to pass out and never wake up.. I'm litterally scared to death. If i need to go to the hospital, i will gladly..
thank you!Lost 15 lbs in 12 days due to doctor doubling Adderall + other serious symptoms! I'M SCARED!?
I think you should tell your doctor immediately and perhaps consider a getting a new one. Just because you have a prescription doesn't mean that you have to take the pills. If you are responding this way, it means you are taking too much. I think it is irresponsible for your doctor to double your meds like that. An increase should be gradual.
I was recently started on 10mg XR Adderall and my doctor gave me a prescription for 5mgs to add to that to see how I feel. I am a 27 year old woman. You are a teenager. Why is your doctor telling you that 30mg XR is extremely low? That dose would make me crazy. I can't imagine taking 60mg. Take only the amount that makes you feel better, but without the side effects. Your doctor clearly has not accurately assessed your needs.
Your concerns about dying can be attributed to the paranoia side effect. However, it is a stimulant and people with high metabolisms, like you and I, should be careful about speeding them up any more.
Drink lots of water and don't take another pill until the side effects wear off. I had trouble sleeping today because I took one of my pills early. I am therefore resisting taking another until after I get a good sleep. During my first two days taking adderall I became shakey and my heart was racing. I ate some solid food and it really helped to relieve the symptoms.

adderall is a cns stimulant, so that explains why the jumpy/racing thoughts %26amp; the lack of sleep. another side effect of stimulating the cns (and in turn, the sympathetic system) is a decrease in appitite, so tahtd explain why your not eating. you should def. talk to your doc though if you still feeling like this on mondayLost 15 lbs in 12 days due to doctor doubling Adderall + other serious symptoms! I'm not a doctor, but the symptoms sound like a reaction to the increase in Adderall. (See this article.)

I don't know why your doctor would double the dose you were taking. Once a day for an extended release dose should be taken in the morning. No wonder you can't sleep! It's a powerful stimulant (a bunch of amphetamines).
Go back to your previous dose IMMEDIATELY for now, and take it up with the doctor on Monday. If your primary diagnosis is NOT ADHD, you may have been taking it to counter the effects
Your underlying conditions, anxiety and depression, are common, and need to be managed. That was the idea for the Prozac, which you are still taking. As for the Seraquil, it had a sedative effect, and was used for your anxiety and depression. It was a little odd, having it at the same time as Prozac, but there may have been some other reason for prescribing it. Removing it made you more anxious, and adding in extra amphetamines at the same time didn't help a bit.

You are now almost a man, and will have to stand up to this doctor to find out why he is making these changes. Please read these articles and take control of your body. I don't know how many doctors have been trying to take charge of you, but you need to be very aware of what they are doing and why they are doing it.
Good luck!
