Extreme hightened sense of smell during pregnancy?

I'm 25 weeks pregnant and I can smell EVERYTHING. Nothing really turns me off, just makes me more interested in the things that have "new" smells that I've never smelled before. Example...I was eating dinner the other night at Hoss's and I couldn't stop smelling a "dirty diaper" but my mom was sitting across the table and said she couldn't smell a thing. Then she laughed and said, "Lindsey you could smell a crumb the whole way across the room" I laughed so hard, because it's true...I smell EVERYTHING these days. Well, just now at work I printed a letter out on bond paper and when it printed it was still warm from the printer and I was standing there smelling the paper. ha ha, which kinda smelled like pizza hut. !!! I know it sounds weird, but this lady who just got done having a baby laughed and ripped the papers out of my hand and we laughed so hard, cause I was smelling it for like 5 minutes and it looked so weird! Did this increased smell happen so severly to you?Extreme hightened sense of smell during pregnancy?
Yes I had the same experience it was crazy, I felt like a dog or something. It went away after they were born but I do remember it being so bad and good to. Ha Ha
i'm 21 weeks and yes you do smell things like crazy while pregnant. I went to a friends b-day party in a bar that does not serve food but was smelling hot wings, i couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Then when i went to the bathroom there was a plate of bones (from wings) in the trash....probably from an employees meal or something, but i smelt it without ever going in the bathroom and everyone around me couldn't smell a thing and laughed when they told me there was that plate in the trash.



I too picked a piece of paper up at work and it smelled like chicken, then i later found out that a girl in the office had KFC for lunch and that paper came from her, so have fun with it and you'll probably run into some not so good smells.Extreme hightened sense of smell during pregnancy?

I run a candle business and back when I first opened my store I had a few complaints that turned into a hard to kill rumor and come to find out most Pregnant women think candles stink or thinks it smells like something totally off the wall. I had this one lady who used to buy so many candles from me on a regular bases but after she became pregnant she swore up and down that we changed our scents and she use to complain that they stunk when they burned also other pregnant women complained of little to no smell from my product they were disappointed to find it was just there nose. I am a guy and I just wanted to say that i can identify somewhat to what u are talking about...
It has for me! At first, I couldn't stop getting wiffs of things that made me sick- NOW probabley from since about 25 weeks- I crave chemical smells! Funny you mention paper, because I got my monthly news later from Charles Schwab and I kept it my desk for like a week and half to sneak wiffs!- I'm so weird-lol!!
YES I smelled the dirty diaper on a kid across the restaurant from me just yesterday, noone else could smell it. NOT even the parents.
oh my gosh i cant stop laughing. i know what you are going through. i went through the same thing when i was pregnant. it was both frustrating and hillarious. when i was pregnant i would smell paper and it would smell like cucumbers.
lol I have been there myself :) My husband is always laughing at me when I am pregnant because I can smell something cooking six blocks away! And for some reason, I can't stop myself from commenting!! I am constantly asking him "oooh do you smell that!" lol



Some things really gag me too! For example, my husband had a business meeting last week at a nearby restaurant. I was in bed when he came home and he sat down next to me to kiss me hello. He had such bad "burger breath" I thought I was going to vomit all over him lol. His face was still about a foot away and I turned away as quick as I could and told him he was going to have to brush is teeth if he wanted to talk to me lol...poor guy!
wow, i'm a manager at pizza hut and i would hate to smell it outside of work. lol. but yes, my sense of smell has increased but not so drastically. maybe you're craving pizza, let's hope not dirty diapers. :)
Thank God, i have the heightened sense of smell, but not the aversion sense of smell, you know? I smell everything, but thank God it's not making me sick! :) That's the truth though, you know what i really enjoy right now? The way my fiancee smells after he comes out of the shower, i just attach myself to his leg, lol, it's funny, i mean, i always knew he smelled good, but never like this before! :)
oh yea it happened to me too. My husband said I was like a blood hound I could pick up a sent trail from a mile away..lol
