My parents grounded me for two weeks because I let a friend use our bathroom while they were gone. Extreme?

Me and a group of friends were coming back from Giordano's (a pizza place), and one of my friends really had to use the bathroom. Since I live just down the block from where we were walking, I told my friend she could use my bathroom. My sister who is 11 was home alone, and so I called her to tell her that one of my friends was coming home to use the bathroom. Knowing my moms rule about having people in the house when she is not home, I told the rest of my friends to stay in the backyard while she went to the bathroom. After she did, we left and I said goodbye to my sister. Later when I got home, my mom said I was grounded for 2 weeks because I should have called her and asked her if someone could use our bathroom, and that I was grounded for 2 weeks. She also said it was not fair that I put my sister in an uncomfortable position because she was 11 and home alone. So that means I'm grounded for 2 weeks? I don't get it. I'm 15 and I never do anything bad, and never get grounded. But when I do, its for stupid crap like this. IF YOUR FRIEND HAD TO USE THE RESTROOM THEY SHOULDNT SUFFER AND HAVE THERE BLATTER EXPLODE YOU DID THE RIGHT THING!!!:) HOW DID U PUT YOUR SISTER IN AN UNCONFTERABLE SITUATION IT WAS JUST LETTING SOMEONE USE THE RESTROOM AND LEAVE THATS IT OO THATS A REALLY BIG SITUATION LOL!!! yeah, that's pretty extreme, but I'm sure she has her reasons, maybe ask your mom why she grounded you for so long over something so minor.

Your sentence DOES sound a tad extreme.

However, I've been in a similar situation, and I do understand where your mom is coming from. Unless you have permission, you shouldn't be letting people in the house while they're away, even if your sibling is there.

Still, too long of a sentence. I prolly would've given you like...a couple days.

why not discuss the matter with your parents/ mom and tell her the reason for you letting your friend to use the toilet?? i'm sure she's just concern about the safety of your sister who were home alone. no doubt being a mother she has to take precautions on many matters nevertheless, you have your rights too. i suggest you to discuss the problem with your mom. goodluck!
