How to help my pregnant wife's appetite?

My wife is around 5-6 weeks pregnant. She's experiencing extreme fatigue which I believe is both the cause and effect of her problem. She nearly refuses to eat. Maybe I should say she refuses to eat anything she has to get up and make herself. I sometimes joke with her that her appetite is so bad that she only eats food that comes out of a tube. She usually only wants pizza, chicken (bland, usually baked), or fast food. Never does she try anything new nor does she eat sufficiently for being pregnant. Are there any tips that will help me help her eat better? How to help my pregnant wife's appetite?
This early on, she won't be all that much hungrier, because the baby is still tiny. At this stage, it's doubtful she'll want anything more than her normal diet, so the idea that her appetite isn't normal for a pregnant woman isn't exactly right. As long as she's getting enough protein, iron, minerals and vitamins and enough calories, it's all good. The extreme fatigue is because of relaxin which is a pregnancy hormone. When your body's not used to it it makes you extremely tired. This usually goes on until around week 14. Then at around week 16 she'll start to feel tired again as the baby gets bigger and heavier, and her uterus etc grows, and her abdominal muscles will stretch and become far less effective. You'll never understand how much you use your abdominal muscles until you've been pregnant and had a baby. I mean literally - you have to roll out of bed instead of getting out of bed so you don't hurt yourself and tear your muscles, and they are weakened pretty significantly.

For now, it sounds like she's eating foods that make her feel better. If you're worried, homemake some pizza for her, and cook her the chicken. It will be more important later on that she eats more vegetables etc (is now in all honesty) and it's extremely important she gets enough omega 3's. For these you can add a tblspoon to food, and if she doesn't want these, there are always supplements. You can always go shopping with her at the chemist and get some drinks which are designed for people with increased nutritional needs or are unable to eat. These wouldn't replace food, they need to be drunk in addition to food. But don't worry. The time will come pretty soon when she'll be ravenous and will feel sick until she eats. But honestly, don't give her a complex about all this. Doctors and nurses already give lectures about the importance of healthy appetites, it's in pretty much every single pregnancy and birth book and no doubt she's grown up with the "2 fruit 5 veg every day" message. She's the mother of your child, and trying to imply that you love the baby more than her straight out won't lead anywhere good. How to help my pregnant wife's appetite?
until the sick feeling and tired feelings wear off a lil bit which will towards 2nd trimester the only thing you can do is make sure she eats something and make sure she takes her vitamins, if shes lacking anything in her diet her body will make her crave it... good luck and congratsHow to help my pregnant wife's appetite?
