Am I allergic to pineapples?

Since the beginning of 2008, I've had moments (at least 4) where I randomly began vomiting for no apparent reason. Today, I realized that the common thing between all four incidents was that I had pineapples before each episode. One time I'd had a Hawaiian pizza, one time I'd had fresh juice, and twice they were freshly cut when I'd eaten them.

I've always loved pineapples and ate them quite frequently when I was younger. Is it possible to get a food allergy at such a late age? (I'm 19)

Here are my symptoms:

Extreme stomach burn (acidity I'm guessing)

Mild diarrhea (sometimes)

A LOT of vomiting

Another thing I'd like to add is that this has only happened in India where I am currently attending college. Is it possible to be allergic to "Indian" pineapples and not "American" ones? Is there a difference?

Your answers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Oh dear, that's no fun!

Foods produced overseas are often less stringently inspected than those here in the states- so it could be that there is a problem with 'Indian' pineapples.

Or yes, you could have a sensitivity to pineapples in general. Allergies can develop at any age, after all. And you are still young.

The only suggestion I have is that you avoid pineapple in the future.

Good luck.Am I allergic to pineapples?
Avoid the juice and the pizza but if you want to try the fresh ones, after removing the top, core and outside, take a handful of salt and rub it all over the pineapple, then wash it off. then cut it. just make sure to use a different knife or wash it off.Am I allergic to pineapples?
It is possible at any age to develop an allergy to anything. Usually at puberty and middle age allergies develop or lessen or disappear. Its because it corresponds to body changes, hormones, slowing of metabolism. It is possible that you are allergic to some kind of pesticide or application that is prayed on the pineapples in India, or on the soil its grown in.
