over spring break like 3 weeks ago we decided to get ready for swim suit season together. She didn't need to go on the diet she was already skinny but i wanted a exercise buddy. Anyways I gave up and she kind of went phyco. She takes a diet pill in the morning to speed up her metabolism. She takes an extra gym class during lunch and "eats" during french. Idk if you'd call it eating. my friend in her class said she has a diet coke and half a sandwith with half a slice of cheese in it. However, apperently she's switched over to a slim fast bar and diet coke now. She swims in her pool before school and she dances competitivley and has dance every night. She's lost like 15 lbs in about 2 and a half weeks. She has a bmi of 18.5 which is as low as healthy goes. Her diet consists of slim fast bars and diet coke as i take it. She lies and says she eats pizza. I tell her to eat more and she says it hurts her stomach. Her nails are cracked at the top and her skin has gotten dry. She looks skinnier and I feel like she's taken this to the max even though i gave up. She's always been a perfectionist but i think this is extreme.
she's a ballet dancer and the only logic i get out of her wanting to lose weight is because she wants to look like a perfect ballerina. i always thought she did but apperently she thinks she doesn't. her personality hasn't changed. she has the lead in the spring play and when we were getting costumes the director kept commenting about how skinny she is and how hard it is to find her a costume.
she's always had bad nails... she can't have milk or ice cream or yogurt because she is allergic but she can have small portions of cheese. she's always been like that since we were really little. she has perfect hair thoughIs my best friend anorexic?
She could be. I suffered with anorexia for years and am now in recovery, and I notice a lot of her behaviors are the same types of things I did. I think the best thing you can do, is to tell her you are very worried that she is hurting herself, and you hate to see her like this. Tell her unless she eats, she won't have the energy to dance or do well in school or anything. Maybe that will wake her up. If she's still doing the same things, and doesn't realize she's hurting herself, maybe you should bring it up to her parents or a teacher or guidance counselor at school.
Best of luck, I hope you are able to get through to your friend. Is my best friend anorexic?
sounds like it.Is my best friend anorexic?
Well, if she lost 15lbs. in 2 weeks- yeah, I think she may be anorexic...however a BMI of 18.5...I don't think that is too bad...my BMI is 17.4 (unless you think I'm too skinny)...if she does ballet, of course, she's going to wanna look like a perfect ballerina! I don't know about her nails..probably just not enough calcium. If her parents know what she's doing, they'd probably fix it even if her dad runs marathons and mom was a ballet dancer. If you honestly think she's too skinny and a lot of other people do to, maybe you should talk to her- does she know what you think about her?
I think you should talk to her and tell her how you are feeling and tell her to stop and give her an ultermatum. Say to her to stop or you will talk to her parents! And then you won't feel so hopeles. Hope this helps
