well, i dont have it (sure hope not) but i am feeling a little "off" right now and i think it may be because of the pizza i ate a few hours ago.
will dramamine help prevent vomiting? although food poisoning would be atrocious to suffer from right now, i would much rather have diarrhea than to vomit because i have an EXTREME fear of vomiting!
thank you very much.
ps, is it also possible to have just the diarrhea and not vomiting from food poisoning? Will dramamine help prevent vomiting from food poisoning?
Ok - first dramamine will not stop vomiting if you're suffering from food poisoning. It's a prevention medicine for nausea caused by motion sickness and some side effects of medications only. It's really a nausea preventer vs. a vomiting preventer.
Food poisoning can involve vomiting, diarrhea, or both. It all depends on where the bacteria/virus decides to land and cause it's wrath. Vomiting is very frightening and horrible to experience. Unfortunately it's the stomach's way of cleansing itself. There are medications that can be prescribed to stop vomiting but often only work for awhile - if the vomiting needs to occur, the body will make it do so. These medications are usually reserved for those who are to the point of continuous dry-heaving.
The "flu" is actually an upper respiratory, fever, and sinus thing. The "stomach flu" as it's often referred to is the virus spread from person to person (vs. food poisoning) that causes vomiting and/or diarrhea and sometimes fever.
You can try over the counter stuff, like pepto, but if the body needs to throw up, it usually will. Will dramamine help prevent vomiting from food poisoning?
If you have food poisoning, you don't want to prevent vomiting. Vomiting and diarrhea is your body's way of expelling the toxins from your body.if you have been having diarrhea or vomiting for 24 hrs, you need to go to the ER, so they can stabalize your potassium levels, and re-hydrate you.
Usaully, food poisoning gives you both diarrhea and vomiting...you might have the flu. eating pizza and getting food poisoning from it is rare....but, you never know...it can be possible.
